So, like I do with my Kenwood and Baofeng, I plugged in the cable and turned on the radio…. When I first ordered the cable to program the Yaesu FT-8900R, I didn’t realize just how to work it. I ordered the cable for the FT-8900 and learned how to program the radio using the Chirp software. When I looked at all the radio options, I saw it also programmed the three other radios that I also have, The Kenwood TM-281, Yaesu 857, and FT-8900. ![]() When I received my Baofeng UV-5R, I also received a programming cable so I downloaded the free CHIRP software for programming the HT.
